Anthropic's Claude Design turns Figma files into interactive UIs
Fireship demos Claude Design, a new Anthropic platform powered by Opus 4.7 that converts Figma wireframes into interactive prototypes, pitch decks, and production-ready UIs.
Score breakdown
Designers and front-end developers can now feed Claude Design an existing Figma file or design system and get fully interactive, animation-ready UI prototypes — but should validate brand consistency, as real-world tests show the tool doesn't always honor uploaded design systems.
- 01Anthropic launched Claude Design, a new platform for converting Figma wireframes into interactive UI prototypes.
- 02Claude Design is powered by Opus 4.7, Anthropic's newly released flagship model.
- 03Opus 4.7 supports image understanding at 3.75 megapixels, up to 2,576 pixels on the long edge.
Anthropic released Claude Design, a new platform powered by their flagship Opus 4.7 model, aimed at turning rough Figma wireframes into interactive prototypes, pitch decks, and production-ready UIs. According to Fireship's video, the announcement caused Figma's stock to drop 7% within hours. The tool supports uploading existing design systems via a linked GitHub repo, a Figma file, or a PDF, and is intended to let designers sketch a handful of screens before handing off the rest to Claude.
Opus 4.7 itself was released the week prior and brings notable capability upgrades: image understanding at 3.75 megapixels (up to 2,576 pixels on the long edge) and an 87.6% score on the software engineering benchmark, which the video notes beats Opus 4.6 but still falls behind a model referred to as "Mythos." Claude Design's standout differentiator over competitors like Google Stitch is interactivity — demos show working animations out of the box, shader-based effects, and video animations exceeding one minute. However, Fireship's own live test building an iOS onboarding flow found that Claude Design was notably slower than Google Stitch, Codex, or Cursor Composer, and did not reliably apply the uploaded design system, producing output that felt generic rather than brand-consistent.
